Ayla Oostrom

My name is Ayla, and I’m proud to call myself a HypnoKid.
I learned the art of hypnosis from my mother and mentor, Ina Oostrom. In 2018, I stepped into her class and became certified as an OMNI hypnotherapist. I later established my practice, The School of Joy, where I work with children and adults on a wide range of topics, helping them achieve lasting change.

Since 2019, I’ve been a certified OMNI instructor in the Netherlands, where I teach the OMNI curriculum alongside my mother. Together, we share our passion for hypnosis, not just through training but also through our podcast, HypnoMum and Ayla.

The power of waking hypnosis: transforming resistance into collaboration

This presentation will demonstrate how resistance can be viewed as an opportunity for growth and how waking hypnosis, in combination with ‚parts therapy awareness‘ can be effectively used to create powerful and immediate change in clients, even without a deep trance. Participants will learn how to transform resistance, and enhance their hypnotherapy practice with practical tools and strategies.

Content of the presentation

In this presentation, I will explain how I use waking hypnosis right from the first contact with clients, observing and addressing resistance as it arises. Resistance is not a barrier but a signal that helps identify areas of healing. I will also discuss how to integrate parts therapy—a technique that helps integrate conflicting parts of the self in the pretalk to make your client excited about working with you. Participants will learn how to create explicit and implicit hypnotic contracts to establish clear expectations and ensure that clients feel safe and supported throughout the process. I will share how to integrate waking hypnosis with ‚parts awareness‘ to guide clients through resistance and achieve immediate, transformative results.

Goal of the presentation

The goal is to shift how hypnotherapists view resistance—as a key signal for transformation rather than an obstacle. I want participants to gain confidence in using waking hypnosis and ‚parts awareness‘ to address resistance, and to understand how to create a therapeutic environment where immediate change is not only possible but achievable. By the end of this presentation, attendees will have practical tools and a renewed sense of confidence in their ability to guide clients through resistance and toward their goals.

What makes the presentation unique?

This presentation is unique because it combines waking hypnosis with ‚parts therapy awareness‘, offering a holistic approach to working through resistance. It’s not just about theory, but a practical, real-world application that hypnotherapists can immediately implement into their practice. By focusing on how to create safety, trust, and collaboration with clients, I will guide participants in understanding how to navigate resistance effectively, ensuring lasting change.
